Pavement Analysis
At Trimat, we provide advanced pavement composition and structure analysis through innovative methods and specialized equipment. Our Asphalt Pavement Analyzer (APA Jr.) enables RUT and Hamburg Testing on asphalt mixtures, evaluating Cold, Warm, and Hot Mixes in various conditions, with real-time numeric and graphical results. We utilize the M.I.S.T. system for moisture testing, rapidly assessing damage susceptibility to stripping and raveling with results available in 24 hours. Additionally, our SmartLoader system supports Balanced Mix Design (BMD) testing with preprogrammed tests, including IDEAL-CT for cracking, IDEAL-RT for rutting, IFIT, and LSU SCB. Testing
Testing is the foundation on which Trimat was built. Trimat has a full service materials testing laboratory. We are committed to exceeding standards of testing and delivering solid results that can be applied to the success of our clients. Trimat can provide testing on projects that require NCDOT certifications for laboratory or technicians and AASHTO Accredited for ASTM E 329, D 3666, D3740, C1077, and AASHTO R18.

Balance Mixed Design
The FHWA defined balance mix design (BMD) as an “asphalt mix design using performance tests on appropriately conditioned specimens that address multiple modes of distress taking into consideration mix aging, traffic, climate and location within the pavement structure”. Essentially, balanced mix design involves designing a mix that is specific to the intended application, through the incorporation of multiple mechanical tests, which examine a particular form of distress.
